The first five days of the exhibition “Ask Yourself” in Arles by Photographer Guillaume Dimanche, close to 800 visitors came to see the Artworks. The exhibition continues until July 15th 2018 at 13 rue de la Calade in Arles with a cocktail for the opening on July 6th at 7:00 pm.

According to Hervé Schiavetti, the Mayor of the city of Arles, the “Voies-Off festival became an essential player of the photography scene in Arles. It found an original role alongside with the Rencontres [de la photographie] and in 23 years it increased its notoriety”. Since 1996, Voies-Off has been taling place during the prestigious Rencontres de la Photographie. The 2018 edition includes 141 exhibitions in the city, all referenced in the dedicated program. The organizers of the Voies-Off festival “recieved more than 2000 applications for the Voies-Off award coming from 78 countries” explains Hervé Schiavetti, the Mayor of the city of Arles. In that context, Photographer Guillaume Dimanche presents the exhibition “Ask Yourself” from July 1st to July 15th 2018 at 13 rue de la Calade in Arles.

The exhibition “Ask Yourself” offers a questioning about our contemporary world and our relationship to new technologies. The set of presented photographs is extracted from various series and themes. As a result, the exhibition combines portraits, landscapes and still lives all together which interact with one another about our contemporary society. In 5 days, the exhibition “Ask Yourself” drew close to 800 visitors. Therefore they could admire the photographic Artworks of Guillaume Dimanche and have a conversation with him about his artistic statement. A cocktail for the opening reception is to be held on July 6th at 7:00 pm. The exhibition remains open to the public until July 15th 2018. “In this exhibition I present a questioning about contemporary society including new technologies and the space in which human beings position themselves reacting to it” explains Guillaume Dimanche.
Photographer Guillaume Dimanche’s story
Visual Artist and Photographer, Guillaume Dimanche was born in 1970 in Blois on the edge of a national forest. Exploring different natural landscapes as a child have shaped his artistic approach as a traveler and observer of the environment. Educated at the Beaux-Arts in Poitiers, then in Paris, he acquired knowledge and developed its aesthetics. His work in photomontage, initiated in the early 90s, at the early stage of Digital Art, has reached a maturity and a unique aesthetic writing. It has been exhibited in France as well as in many major European cities and the Middle East. He has been selected for photographic publications and for various residencies, grants and aids to creation and awarded with several prizes. He runs workshops and photography classes in schools of Art and design, elementary schools and high schools in France and French institutes abroad. His vision and his particular technique lead in a singular work in the 21st century. His visual compositions present a fantasized and unique vision in today’s Art.
