When we enter the world of Anne-Sophie Larcena, we discover the complexities of the human soul and the imprints of the past and present. Life itself beats at the heart of her paintings, where fragmented moments, always in motion, intertwine.
Anne-Sophie Larcena creates rhizomatic narratives. She weaves her work between illusion and reality. Her approach involves combining photography and painting, creating back-and-forth movements, embracing chance and opening a dialogue between impermanence and life. Figuration dances with abstraction. The canvases become blurred, leaving the figures and landscapes ethereal.
Through her work, she explores themes such as the erasure of the body, shifting landscapes, fragmentation, hybridisation and distortion. Overlapping, whether partial or total, takes centre stage on the canvas. In order to exorcise the passage of time, she creates scenarios comprising entanglements, assemblages, duplications and mirror effects. The viewer becomes a witness to these metamorphoses.
She applies multiple layers of acrylic, glazes and other materials to gradually reveal the image, like a photograph developing.
She transforms situations and opens new paths, enabling everyone to create their own universe.
